Our Friends at Oxford Family Practice are Calling for Daily Lives Stories here is their letter:
Dear Family Practice Readers and Members of the Primary Care Community:
Family Practice is interested in hearing about the daily lives of primary care physicians who care for marginalized populations or communities around the world. Primary care practices may be in underserved communities, or serve indigenous or ethnic minority communities, or patients with special needs or disabilities. Submissions should take the form of an interesting story that describes an especially memorable patient, condition or event. Submissions should be no longer than 500 words in length. While your story should describe one patient, family or work day, you should make sure to answer the following questions to provide readers with valuable contextual information:
1. What is the community or population you care for, and how is it distinct from others? 2. What compelled you to serve the needs of the community or population?
3. What challenges do you face on a regular basis in terms of resources, access or cultural barriers in caring for your patients?
4. What lessons have you learned that might be valuable to other primary care physicians who care for marginalized populations?
We will publish a small number of selected stories in a forthcoming special issue of the journal, entitled, Expanding the Primary Care Workforce. You may submit your pieces through the Family Practice submissions website at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/fampra. Manuscripts for “Daily Lives” should be submitted as “brief reports.” References/citations are not required. Submissions longer than 500 words will not be considered. To receive full consideration submissions should be received no later than 10 April 2025.
Best wishes,
