The recent EURACT faculty development meeting brought together educators and participants to review progress, provide feedback, and refine the appraisal process for teaching expertise. The day began with introductions and technical setup, followed by sessions in breakout rooms where participants presented their work. Despite initial delays due to technical issues, the team adjusted the schedule to allow all presenters the opportunity to share their progress. Faculty members offered real-time feedback, emphasizing learning reflections and the importance of keeping presentations within the 15–20 minute limit.

A key focus of the meeting was the appraisal process. Faculty members outlined the expectations for portfolio submissions, encouraging participants to demonstrate competence across five selected domains from all three areas. The final portfolio, due by September 11, must include documented educational reflections and written reports. Faculty agreed to provide clearer guidance and improved organizational support to ensure consistency and quality in future submissions. Participants were also reminded to submit evidence of feedback received during presentations and to reach out to their assigned faculty supervisors for assistance.

Looking ahead, participants will continue their educational activities while preparing their portfolios. Faculty will begin reviewing the submitted reports after the deadline, and plans are in place to reconvene after the Lisbon Conference in September. Tasks were assigned to team members, including updates to presentation materials, curriculum documentation, and logistical coordination for breakout sessions. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to improving the learning journey and enhancing the overall appraisal process for teaching excellence in family medicine.
