From 3 to 5 April 2025, Tbilisi was welcoming us for our EURACT’s Spring Council meeting! The Council Report is available at our website and gives an overview of the business and project meetings and the work done in our committees and task groups. It was again gratifying to work together and work hard on so many aspects of GP education. Since spring 2024 we have a new task force about teaching POCUS (Point-of-Care UltraSound) in GP.
Nino and her colleagues immersed us in Georgian culture and we discovered their well-known hospitality and warmth. It made us happy and set a trend of celebrating. Similarly, we celebrated the honorary membership of Adam Windak. Adam was a highly appreciated and valuable EURACT council member for many years and was therefore duly honoured.
EURACT operates at European level. When we are hosted by a different country each time, it helps to get to know the real Europe better. On Thursday 3/04 we were invited at the Tbilisi State Medical University; we were welcomed by Georgian colleagues, a.o. prof. Rusudan Rukhadze, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and Givi Javashvili our former Georgian EURACT representative. We had a plenary discussion on training communication skills.
We are preparing our 4th Educational Conference ‘Teaching Tomorrow’s Family Doctors: Keeping patients close at heart in the digital era’ will be held in Iasi, Romania, 23 to 25th of April 2026 – save the date! More information will follow soon!
Next activities/courses are:
• 34rd Janko Kersnik EURACT Bled course on ‘Complexity and inspiration in Family medicine and General practice’ - 10 to 13 September 2025, Bled – Slovenia. Click here to register and participate!
• 7th EURACT Assessment Course from 5 to 7 November 2025 in the beautiful city Thessaloniki in Greece. More information and the application form can be found on our website.
We have noticed that many people (researchers, educators, policy makers, ...) ask us for data on GP education in Europe both in basic medical education (BME) and for specialty training (ST) and continuing medical education (CME). Therefore, we decided to update our datasets and prepare reports on these; we expect the reports to be published on our website soon.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with us? Any other questions? Don't hesitate to contact us. This is best done through your country representative. Hopefully you know them well and if not: all contact details can be found on our website. After all, EURACT exists for you and only because of you, and don't forget that we all share the same goal: to give the GPs of the future the training they deserve and that patients deserve too!
We had elections!
After the elections of the EURACT representatives in January 2025 we have new council members! In Tbilisi we could welcome Kasia (Poland), Marta (Portugal) and Inga (Norway). It was lovely to meet them! We hope to get to know Viviana (Italy), Ajandek (Hungary), Marta (Estonia), Emmi (Finland), Sashka (North Macedonia) and Arijeta (Kosovo) soon.
Also, in the council we had elections: Vesna (Slovenia) was elected as president-elect. Congratulations! Martine (Israel), Joachim (Denmark) and Milena (Bosnia) are (re-)elected as EB members at large. Also for them: congratulations!
